10 Tips For Faster Windows
1. Burning ISO’s
Windows 7 system brings useful utility for burning ISO files. So for fast image burning you don’t need burning software. How to use it? Just find some file with .ISO extension and right click on it. At Open with select Windows Disc Image Burner, it brings new window where you just select your burning mechanic and click Burn. You can also verify your data, simply check Verify disc after burning.
2. Faster moving of open windows
It comes with the Aero Snap feature. Drag the window and move it to the right, left or top side of the screen and the screen “snap” there. Ideal for moving 2 windows side to side. For faster moving, you can try keyboard shortcut Win+Arrow-Right,Left,Up.
3. Fast miniapplication show
Altought sidebar in Windows 7 gone, gadgets remains. The good news is, that the sidebar.exe process run only, when some of gadgets are displayed. After pressing the Show desktop button at main panel or shortcut Win+M, gadgets are no longer minimalised.
4. Changing desktop wallpapers
For automatic change of wallpapers on desktop you don’t need to install special software. Right click on desktop and select Personalize. Select tab Desktop Background. Select default pictures in Picture location, or select folder with own wallpapers by pressing Browse. If you want to select more than 1 picture, simply hold Ctrl and select your pictures, then select interval of change and then click Save changes.
5. Videos and Start menu
Are you missing shortcut for fast open of Video folder in Start menu? It has gone in Windows 7 for unknown reason. But there’s no problem to put it back. Right click on Start button. Select Properties and then select Customize. New window should appear, roll it to the end where you can see Videos item. Select Display as a link and save by clicking OK.
6. Shutdown button functions
Standard function of Shutdown button is simply - to shutdown computer. But you can change this. Right click on Start menu, select Properties. In Start Menu tab look for Power button action menu. There you can choose what happen, when you click the Shutdown button. Simply save by clicking OK.
7. Desktop and Icons
Is there any reason to hide icons and gadgets on your desktop? Presentations for example. Right click on desktop and in Views menu deselect options Show desktop icons and Show desktop gadgets.
8. Encrypting USB drives
Technology BitLocker comes in Windows Vista. In new Windows 7 it stays and you can encrypt your USB drive really fast. Plug your USB pen, run File Manager (Win+E), right click on USB drive. Select Turn on BitLocker option and wait for password settings dialog.
9. Running programs as Administrator
If you don’t want to right click the shortcut and click Run as Administrator, you can do the same while holding down Ctrl+Shift and run the program you want. Try it for example on Command Line cmd.
10. Upgraded Calculator
They say the calculator is the most improved program in whole Windows 7. I don’t know if it’s true, but fact is that the new design can’t compare to the old one. There are 2 mods added, and it’s Programator and Statistics.
